Dr. Ignatius is an associate professor in operations research specializing in business analytics and systems modeling at the School of Mathematical Sciences,Universiti Sains Malaysia. He holds two professional certifications from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston in Analytics for S&OP and Network Design, and Modeling and Simulation of Transportation Networks.

He is an empirical methodologist and prides himself in modeling challenging business problems across diverse industries with the aim of uncovering managerial and policy insights through systems thinking. Trained as an E&E Engineer and later practiced as a project management and risk evaluation consultant, he draws upon a diverse pool of skillsets ranging from statistics to machine learning.

He has both safety engineering and international management consulting experiences, and regularly conducts training for several multinational companies and government agencies with a focus on data analytics implementation. He designs latent growth curve models for panel data, and applies structural equation modeling, survival analysis and logistics models for market research and supply chain consulting projects. In the implementation side of business decision making systems and strategic management, Dr. Ignatius is skilled in systems dynamics, fuzzy multi-objective optimization models, data envelopment analysis and game theoretic models for resource optimization.

His analytical skills in real options are sought for structuring documentation for project ventures, which has helped numerous projects in securing funds. He is presently using those skills to propose a carbon trading model for Malaysian public institutions of higher learning to adopt the model for energy conservation.

His consulting projects have appeared as applications in high impact SCI/SSCI journals such as European Journal of Operational Research,Journal of Civil Engineering and Management,Journal of Intelligent & Fuzzy Systems,International Journal of Information Technology & Decision Making, TECHNOVATION, Experts Systems with Applications, and Group Decision & Negotiation. For his contributions in the field of data analytics, he was appointed to several editorial bords of prestigious journals. As an associate editor of RAIRO-Operations Research, he is the only academic from an Asian university to serve on the board of the said European journal.

His PhD thesis in 2009 was selected as the winner of the Malaysian Society of Operations Research Award. He is the recipient of the Endeavour Executive Award  for high achieving professionals in 2010/11 by the Australian Government under the then Prime Minister Julia Gillard’s administration.
