Abstract |
In this talk, we will discuss about some basic properties of C*-algebra. First of all, the C*-algebra will be defined and a few classical examples will be discussed. Some topology will be introduced in the talk as we would discuss the C*-algebra on the locally compact Hausdorff space. One of the most important theorems in basic C*-algebra Theory is the Commutative Gelfand-Naimark Theorem, which states that for any commutative unital C*-algebra A, there exists a locally compact space for which A = C_0(\Omega), isometrically and *-isomorphically. The prerequisites for this talk are some mathematics background from MAT 202 (Introduction to Analysis) and MSS 211 (Modern Algebra). |
