Dr. Rosihan M. Ali is a Professor of Mathematics at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). He enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno for his tertiary education and graduated with Distinction in 1979. He then completed his M. Sc (1981) and Ph. D (1985) at Texas Tech University. Prof. Ali specializes in the area of Univalent Function Theory. He has numerous publications to his credit in the form of books, and articles in journals and proceedings. He continues to be an active researcher in his field. His many journal articles have been reviewed and indexed in the citation databases of the Mathematical Reviews (American Mathematical Society) and Zentralblatt MATH (European Mathematical Society). Several of his articles have also been cited in research monographs, notably amongst which include the book entitled "Differential Subordinations: Theory and Applications" by S.S. Miller and P.T. Mocanu, Marcel Dekker, New York (2000). Amongst his recent keynote and invited talks are at the First International Conference on Mathematics and Statistics, co-organized by the American University of Sharjah, U.A.E. and the American Mathematical Society (March 2010), the International Symposium on Geometric Function Theory and its Applications (November 2008), the 9th International Conference on Pure Mathematics, Islamabad, Pakistan (August 2008), the 4th IMT-GT International Conference on Mathematics, Banda Aceh, Indonesia (June 2008), the 7th Annual Red Raider Symposium on Circle Packing, Conformal Mapping, and Applications & the Workshop on Complex Analysis and Special Functions, in Lubbock, Texas (October 2007), and the International Conference on 21st Century Information Technology in Mathematics Education, Chiang Mai, Thailand (September 2006). Prof. Ali strives to promote mathematics at all levels. He is the Editor-In-Chief of the BULLETIN, the international journal of the Malaysian Mathematical Sciences Society published jointly with USM. His editorial efforts since 1998 have received international recognition through the selection of the BULLETIN to be indexed in the prestigious Science Citation Index Expanded of the ISI Web of Science from 2007 and Scopus in 2008. Prof. Ali also sits on the Editorial Board of several other international journals, and has been appointed to serve on a variety of international committees. Prof. Ali was the President of the South East Asian Mathematical Society (SEAMS) for the 2008 - 2009 term. He played a very instrumental role in the success of the recently concluded 5th Asian Mathematical Conference held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in June 2009. Apart from conducting research activities in the field of Univalent Function Theory, Prof. Ali also takes a keen interest to issues related to the field of Mathematics Education, specifically those pertaining to the effective utilization of graphic calculator technology as an ICT tool. His many professional contributions in this area include positions as an Associate Organizer of ICME-9, Japan, 2000; Topic Study Group ICME-10, Denmark, 2004; and International Program Committee of various conferences, including the East Asia Regional Conference on Mathematics Education (EARCOME). Prof. Ali has served as USM's Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International Affairs) from 2005 - 2007, as well as the Dean of the School of Mathematical Sciences from 1995 - 2001. In 2008, Prof. Ali was inducted as a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (FASc), as well as a Fellow of the Malaysian Mathematical Sciences Society (FPSM). Recently, Prof. Ali was a recipient of the University's 2008 Distinguished Individual Award, and the recipient of the 2008 Best Research Paper Award in the Category of Science, Technology and Medicine. The latter prize was awarded by the Malaysian Council on Scholarly Publications (MAPIM). In March 2010, he was again bestowed the honour when his joint research paper won the 2009 MAPIM's Best Research Paper Award in the Category of Science, Technology and Medicine. With the consent of His Royal Highness the Sultan of Pahang, Prof. Ali was awarded the Darjah Indera Mahkota Pahang (which carries the title Dato') in May 2006 in conjunction with His Majesty's 75th birthday celebrations.
